Elaine Hardy, MS, RN, APN, C

Elaine is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She follows in the path of her late mother, Carol Alexander, who was a Holistic Nurse Practitioner and licensed Acupuncturist. Elaine explains that she was raised with holistic values and that "it's in my genes!" After spending a number of years working at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Elaine quickly realized that she shared her mother's passion for integrative medicine, and wanted to be able to offer more to her patients than diagnostic tests and medication. She left the hospital setting and joined her mother's practice to train with Carol, and to obtain a year of acupuncture training as well as other integrative medical training. Shortly after her mother's passing, she took over the practice and opened Holistic Family Healthcare, PC. With over 20 years experience in Oncology, Women's Health, Pediatrics, and integrative medicine, Elaine brings extensive knowledge and passion about healing the body naturally and treating the root cause of disease, rather than simply treating the symptoms. Elaine has a special interest in digestive issues, hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's, hormonal and metabolic issues, weight loss, fitness, and children with special needs.

Kristen Denaro MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CWS, CFMP

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse; Certified Family Nurse Practitioner; Certified Wound Specialist; Certified Functional Medicine Provider

While working as an RN at Clara Maass Medical Center, Kristen decided to pursue her graduate degree, and was one of Elaine's Nurse Practitioner students. While she was completing her clinical rotations at our practice, Elaine quickly became her mentor. Kristen's passion to pursue medicine in a more holistic approach motivated her to become certified in Aromatherapy. After completing her Nurse Practitioner degree, Kristen's role in the ER changed from RN, to Nurse Practitioner. She then became board certified in wound care. After almost a decade in traditional medicine, Kristen decided to pursue her certification as a Functional Medicine Practitioner in order to live out her goals of practicing medicine with a more holistic and integrative approach. She believes in exploring symptoms to determine the root cause rather than just treating the symptoms. Kristen has a special interest in gastrointestinal health, cardiovascular and pulmonary disease, wound care, the aging adult, dementia, and autoimmune disease.
